The dog was the first animal that people made friends with. It happened many thousands of years ago, long before humans learnt to keep cows or horses. In the past dogs helped people to hunt and guarded their homes at night. Today dogs still work very hard for us. Some of them help the police to find dangerous people, while others save lost travellers in the mountains. Special trained dogs help blind people to cross busy streets safely. But most dogs are simply good friends who live happily in our homes. A dog is always glad to see its owner and never feels bored with you. If you take good care of a dog, it will love you for all its life.

Task 2. You are going to take part in a telephone survey. You have to answer six questions. Give full answers to the questions. Remember that you have 40 seconds to answer each question.

Task 3. You are going to give a talk about environmental protection. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences). You have to talk continuously.
