Libraries have existed for thousands of years. The very first libraries kept books written on clay tablets or on paper made from plants. Today a modern library is much more than just a room full of old books. People come there to read, to study or simply to relax in a quiet place. Many libraries have computers with free Internet, so visitors can find any information they need. Librarians help readers to choose interesting books and answer all their questions. Some libraries also organise meetings with famous writers and useful lessons for little children. You do not have to pay any money to borrow a book; you only need a special library card. A good library is always open to everybody who loves reading and learning new things.
